Rodeway Inn Gaspe
The Adams Motel (Rodeway Inn Gaspe) is located in downtown Gaspe. This hotel is part of the Rodeway Inn banner, member of the Choice Hotels group. So stays at the Adams Motel gives you Choice Privileges points.
The property

This motel being located in the heart of the town, there are many restaurants around at a walking distance, such as a Tim Horton’s restaurant next to the hotel. This property has three main buildings detached from one another, around a large free parking lot. In high season, like during my stay, it can be difficult to find a space to park your car next to your room. Independently from the room you will get, there is no view on the sea or on the York River basin.
There is not real lobby in this hotel, but a reception desk, which is also used as the counter for the bus terminal. We are really in a typical motel configuration from the ‘50 and ‘60.
The room
My room is medium in size and has the basic accommodations. There is a working desk, quite large, but without rolling chair. There is a power outlet accessible from the desk, useful to connect a computer. The floor is covered with a carpet. There is also a Keurig capsules coffee machine, a fridge, as well as a small round table with two chairs. The coffee machine is very dirty and I had to rinse it many times to remove the old coffee residues from the water. The air conditioning is very noisy. On the night stand there is a very useful charging module pour electronic devices (power outlet and USB connections).

The closet doesn’t have any door. There is no ironing board or iron. There is a plastic platter to put boots in. Useful to keep the floor clean mostly in winter.
The room is badly soundproof. My room is located on the ground floor and I can hear the steps and the voices of people on the second floor.
The bathroom
The bathroom is tiny and divided in two. The toilet and the bath are in a very small closed room and the counter and the sink are in a small alcove in the room. All is clean and well maintained.
Services
Not a lot of services are available on site, no gym and no pool. The breakfast is not included in the room fare. But there are many restaurants nearby from walking distances that offers breakfast.
The internet access (Wi-Fi) is free and extremely slow. Don’t count on this connection to watch streaming TV or to work online. It is very long to simply open a web page. The connection at the Tim Horton’s restaurant next door is much better. The hotel personnel told us that they were having technical issue and that the connection quality was usually much better.
Design
The room design is ordinary, but with good taste. We are in a brown universe, gloomy and heavy. The furniture is damaged and used. There is nothing notable or coherent in terms of design. The one aspect worth mentioning is the presence of Solair plastic chairs in front of almost all rooms. This is an interesting nod to the motel golden era. But unfortunately, this is not the kind of place to enjoy them by watching the view.
My two cents
In a remote region like the Gaspe Region, it is very rare to find an establishment member of a large hotel chain that gives access to the advantages of a reward program, to accumulate points or to exchange free nights. It is interesting that the Adams Motel offers this opportunity in Gaspe. Nevertheless, this hotel is very average in terms of available equipment and services. It is correct and clean for a stop on the road, but I would look for an alternative for longer stays or for vacations.
The devil is in the details:
- Noisy air conditioning
Pros
- Right in downtown Gaspe
- Choice Privilege points
Cons
- Very bad internet connection (technical issue)
- Bad soundproofing
- Very small bathroom
